We wrapped up our second attempt at “2 Dandelions Bookshop” from So Puzzled Puzzle Company on Friday, clocking in at 83:26.

We don’t usually time ourselves but, as I mentioned in the Next Up post for this one, we were really curious how it would go having just completed the 1000-piece version of this design. That said, we were also very deliberate about what parts of the puzzle each of us did, which slowed us down a little.
Last time around, I mostly did the sky and the brick building while Jenny did the sidewalk and the grey building. This time we switched; after we had the borders done I moved on to the sidewalk and the grey building while Jenny did the sky and the brick building.
I wrapped up my sections before Jenny got to her building, at which point she exclaimed “The sky is hard. Ugh!”
There may have been some profanity as well.
Another major change was our playlist for this puzzle. Jenny had the Fugees’ version of “Killing Me Softly with His Song” stuck in her head so she started a playlist with that and let it go from there.
We kept having the thought that this might make a really good design to use in a puzzle race. It’s got some more difficult, repetitive parts, but it’s a relatively simple, clean design. We certainly could have done it faster had we not been reserving sections for us each to work on and, even then, 83 minutes is a perfectly respectable time for a two-person team in a casual setting. We might do it a couple more times to see how it goes solo (or with a larger group).
Now that we’ve solved the piece count issue on this design, it will be available via the SPPC website shortly. In the meantime, it remains available at 2 Dandelions Bookshop in Brighton, Michigan.
