Last night we started “Natural Michigan,” another one from our new series at So Puzzled Puzzle Company.
This one is going to be quick, which is specifically why we chose this.
SPPC was on Studio 10 at WILX in Lansing today and we wanted to start a puzzle that we could quickly get partway through to show off on the show. At 500 pieces, and with big images that are easy to distinguish from each other, “Natural Michigan” fit the bill.
We love the art on this puzzle. This is a piece we commissioned by Michigan-based artist Katie Smith. The shape of the state of Michigan was something she’d previously designed and we liked but it doesn’t work well for a puzzle so we asked her to expand on that idea to fill in a square and she picked some great Michigan-related iconography to do that with.
The elements stand alone so this is one where it’s “You do the birds, I’ll do the flowers.” Very collage-style.
As I said, this is already started and I’d be shocked if we don’t finish it tonight. So there may be a wrap-up post soon.
