Wrap-Up: Selfies, Dog Delight

Doggos!

The completed Selfies – Dog Delight by Ceaco Puzzles

We’re still getting back into the puzzling swing of things over here and when we had a weekend afternoon with no plans, we decided to grab a presumably-easy puzzle from our stash and try to get through it. Enter the 550-piece “Selfies – Dog Delight” from Ceaco Puzzles.

We have no idea where we got this one from. We thought it was a puzzle swap but it was unopened so it might have been a gift at some point.

We cracked it open, got the edges done, started filing it in… And then Jenny started feeling unwell and spent the rest of the weekend on our couch. So much for just blowing through it in one go.

A few nights later we got back to it to wrap it up so it didn’t sit on our table for too long.

One thing I noticed was that I had a really hard time focusing on the design as a whole. I had to break it down to small sections. This has happened previously and I wonder if there’s something about the obviously-Photoshopped design that just makes it hard for me to look at. Like my brain rejecting those unnatural doggo smiles.

For a new puzzle, the pieces fit really loosely together. It didn’t make it particularly harder but it was a little annoying to have to re-adjust sections of the puzzle when matching them up. That said, it’s not like we didn’t expect a little bit of that. It’s Ceaco, not Ravensberger.

One final nit-pick is that the box art is not the same proportions as the puzzle.Rather than cropping off the edges of the design, they skewed it to fit the space. That makes it harder to use the box when matching pieces, so we had to take turns using the insert poster.

All in all, though, it was a cute puzzle and it came together quickly and it helped us keep our puzzling momentum going.
