Alright, we’re back and shaking the rust off with “They Still Make That?” from White Mountain Puzzles.

Since we didn’t do a Next-Up post for this one…
As I mentioned the the Catch Up post a month ago, making and selling puzzles has really taken a bite out of our time to actually do puzzles. Last weekend we had a night where the kid was at a sleepover party and we had nothing else going on so we decided to pick a seemingly-easy puzzle out of our stash and see if we could crank it out.
We thought about going with a 500-piece design but settled on “They Still Make That?” because we figured the collage-style artwork would help it come together quickly.
Jenny had picked up this one at a puzzle swap at our local library, knowing that I’m a branding geek and would appreciate the vintage logos. She was right.
And we were right about it coming together quickly.
Per usual, we started with the border. With that together, Jenny kind of worked out of the bottom-right corner while I mostly stuck to the top-left of the puzzle. By the end of the evening, it was coming together nicely.

Things got exponentially faster from there and we were nearly done when we left to pick up the kid in the morning.

The last two pieces were both from Big League Chew in the bottom-left corner.
There was nothing particularly tricky about this one but for a few of the pieces it was hard to tell if it was a pile of Bugles or a bowl of Life cereal or a bunch of Cheez Balls. There was also a surprising amount of red and yellow pieces. But this is a White Mountain product so they fit together well and the pieces are random-cut so it’s not hard to figure out what goes where, even if it’s not immediately obvious.
What’s kind of funny is that, with the puzzle design being about 15 years old at this point, some of the things that it says are still made actually aren’t anymore. In fact, it was announced while we were working on it that one final batch of Schlitz will be brewed on May 23. So, right now, they do still make that, but in just a few days they won’t.
It felt good to finally sit down and spend some time puzzling again. Hopefully we’ll be able to get back into the swing of things ’cause our stash isn’t getting any smaller.
